2025: Supplied bundle of laser and dotpeen machines to leading manufacturer

For a Prestigious Client with 7 manufacturing plants, we implemented marking in an automated production process for hydraulic components. This represents a strategic, high-performance innovation that offers significant advantages in terms of production efficiency, perceived quality, digital traceability, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability. LG Automation oversaw: - The initial engineering phase to select the most suitable technology based on product specifications and volumes - The technical feasibility assessment - The turnkey supply of marking machines - Production start-up - Staff training in operation, maintenance, and autonomous production management

The hydraulic industry, characterized by high standards of safety and precision, finds marking an advanced technological solution that meets the growing needs for traceability and quality control demanded by the global market.

Advanced Digital Traceability with QR Codes and Instant Access to Technical Documentation

LG Automation has engineered the entire traceability process for hydraulic components produced by leading manufacturers. The oil and gas industry, where these components are used on offshore platforms, required easy and immediate access to data sheets and technical specifications. To address this need, LG Automation engineered the implementation of laser-marked QR codes on these hydraulic components, providing immediate access to technical information. Each component becomes a direct access point to online data sheets, installation manuals, technical specifications, certifications, and compliance documentation: this feature transforms the user experience, allowing installers and maintenance technicians to instantly access the necessary information via smartphone or tablet.

Optimizing production processes and reducing production costs

Marking increases production efficiency through the complete automation of the identification process. Unlike traditional labeling systems, which require the application of adhesive labels that can then be removed at any time, marking integrates directly into the production line, ensuring permanent traceability, eliminating interruptions, and optimizing production times and methods. In the hydraulics industry, where components such as valves, pumps, and filters require permanent identification, automatic marking can increase productivity by 20% to 70% compared to labeling systems without additional investment in human resources.

Comparative Economic Analysis

The analysis of operating costs reveals substantial economic advantages. Marking completely eliminates the costs of consumables—labels, adhesives, inks—which in traditional labeling operations can reach €15,000–30,000 per year per production line. The cost per marked unit is reduced by 60–70%, from €0.20–0.50 per piece with traditional labels to €0.02–0.08 with laser or dot peen marking. Therefore, the return on investment (ROI) for laser or dot peen marking systems in the hydraulic industry typically occurs in 12–18 months, significantly faster than the 36–48 months required to pay for traditional labeling systems, which also involve the cost of consumables (labels, inks, solvents, etc.). This advantage arises from a combination of reduced operating costs, elimination of production waste, and optimized labor.

Reduce Waste and Improve Efficiency

Laser or dot peen marking systems reduce production waste by 95% compared to traditional methods. In conventional labeling, problems such as misalignment, air bubbles, inadequate adhesion, or damage during application result in waste in 5-10% of cases. Laser or dot peen marking, operating without physical contact, virtually eliminates these problems, ensuring consistent and reproducible results.

Higher Perception of Quality by End Customers

Laser marking and dot peen marking generate a higher perceived quality that positively influences end customers' evaluation of the product. Laser marking produces results with micrometric precision, characterized by sharpness, uniformity, and high contrast. This visual quality immediately conveys an impression of professionalism and attention to detail that distinguishes hydraulic components from the competition. Dot peen marking is visible even after surface treatments or exposure to very harsh environments.

The robustness of dot peen or laser markings is critical to the perception of quality in the hydraulic industry: while traditional labels can deteriorate, fade, or peel off within 2-5 years, laser or dot peen markings maintain their legibility for over 30 years, resisting mechanical stress, chemicals, thermal variations, and harsh environmental conditions.

Competitive Differentiation and advantage

In the B2B market for hydraulic components, perceived quality directly influences the purchasing decisions of engineers and procurement managers. Laser or dot peen markings lend a technologically advanced appearance to components, suggesting the adoption of cutting-edge manufacturing processes and high quality standards. The aesthetic versatility of laser marking allows for the creation of company logos, compliance symbols, and technical information with complex graphic details impossible to achieve with traditional methods. This customization capability strengthens brand identity and increases product recognition in the market.

AUTOMOTIVE TRACEABILITY

2025: Supplied important bundle of laser and dotpeen machines

We are proud to have participated in a CAPEX project for a leading multinational in the automotive sector, which saw us supplying over 16 turnkey marking machines:

- Fiber laser marking machines

- Fully automatic inline micro-percussion marking machines

- VIN marking machines

We integrated six of the laser marking machines into cells equipped with Fanuc robots with Mini-In-Line technology, to provide certified Class I safety with PL=d.

During the automatic cycle in the robot cell used for marking, conformity control, tooling, and assembly, even during marking, the components were always clamped without the need for containment boxes.

This technological innovation has allowed us to contribute improving the overall performance of automated systems with significant mechanical simplifications, a smaller footprint with layout benefit, and increased productivity.

Dot peen markers were used to engrave the following elements using direct part marking technology:

- Datamatrix

- Alphanumeric strings

Complementing the IoT-focused supply for full automatic interconnection, we also provided vision systems and datamatrix readers to verify the accuracy and completeness of the marked data for complete traceability.

LASER MARKING OF
PLASTIC COMPONENTS FOR INDUSTRY

2025: TURNKEY SUPPLY OF 3 HIGH PRODUCTIVITY AUTOMATIC WORKSTATION FOR THE PLASTIC INDUSTRY

We provided a turnkey solution to a leading client, a company with annual revenues of approximately €180 million that performs contract molding of plastic components for various sectors—white goods, automotive, and plumbing and heating components. This solution represented an investment in one of the most innovative and cost-effective technologies for identifying and tracing plastic components in modern industry. Thanks to significant optimization of industrial production methods and processes, the client benefited from significant advantages in terms of production efficiency, perceived quality, advanced traceability, environmental sustainability, and integration into industrial automation, positioning itself as a strategic solution for manufacturers striving for operational excellence and market competitiveness.

Production Benefits

Efficiency and cost reduction thanks to the elimination of recurring operating costs Laser marking completely eliminates the need for consumables such as inks, solvents, labels, and thermal transfer ribbons, which represent a significant cost component in traditional methods. The absence of consumables also eliminates the logistical costs associated with the storage, procurement, and internal management of these materials, simplifying the supply chain and reducing the risk of production disruptions due to inventory shortages.

Increased Production

Efficiency Laser marking systems offer higher speeds than traditional methods. In this project, under normal production conditions, we were able to mark 1,060 components/hour, compared to the previous 740 with inkjet. Setup time is dramatically reduced from 21 minutes to just 2 minutes, allowing for faster and more flexible production changeovers. This increased efficiency translates into a productivity increase of up to 37% for some applications.

Reduced Downtime

Laser marking requires minimal maintenance, with an uptime of 98% compared to 92% for traditional systems. The absence of mechanical parts subject to wear eliminates the frequent maintenance required by inkjet systems, which often require nozzle and printhead replacement and periodic cleaning.

Permanent and Professional Markings, Guaranteed Anti-Mixup

Laser marking creates an indelible incision, resistant to wear, heat, chemicals, and UV light, ensuring that the information remains legible for the life of the product. In addition, unlike traditional labels that can be torn or peeled off at any time, laser marking is permanent, guaranteeing the absolute anti-mixup of your components. This feature conveys to end customers an image of superior product quality and reliability, crucial elements for positioning in an increasingly competitive market.

The visual quality of laser markings is superior, with sharp contrast and precise definition that contributes to the overall aesthetic of the product.

Markings can be customized with logos, complex designs, and specific fonts that integrate harmoniously with the brand identity.

Advanced traceability with access to online datasheets and QR and DataMatrix code printing

Laser marking allows for the application of high-density two-dimensional codes such as QR codes and DataMatrix codes directly onto plastic components. These codes connect each individual component to an online database containing technical specifications, user manuals, certifications, and production history. Registered users therefore have immediate access to Technical Information with a range of benefits, including: Comprehensive technical datasheets with dimensional and performance specifications Up-to-date digital instruction manuals Video tutorials for installation and maintenance Production history with date, batch, and quality control checks Warranty and technical support information This digital traceability significantly improves the user experience and reduces technical support costs for the manufacturer, facilitating rapid issue resolution and the provision of targeted assistance.

End-to-End Traceability

System Laser marking enables complete traceability systems that follow the component from raw material to the end customer. Each stage of the production process can be recorded and associated with a unique code, allowing for rapid identification of the causes of any defects and management of targeted and efficient recalls.

Green technology, environmental sustainability, and zero environmental impact

Laser marking is a completely green technology that eliminates the use of adhesive labels, inks, and solvents. This translates into a drastic reduction in waste: 150 kg/year compared to traditional methods.
